No. Although they look similar, cellophane and plastic cling wrap are made from completely different materials. Cellophane is derived from plant-based cellulose (wood pulp), while most plastic wraps are made from petroleum-based polyethylene or PVC. Cellophane is biodegradable; plastic wrap is not.

Is cellophane food safe?

Is cellophane compostable?
