Food-Safe Clear Bags That Break Down, Not Build Up

This flat cellophane bag measures 100mm x 180mm and comes in a pack of 100. As a genuine cellulose cellophane rather than plastic, it gives retailers, cafes, schools, and community groups a clear, biodegradable bag for confectionery, dried foods, bakery items, samples, and small products. It is a practical way for food and retail businesses to present products clearly while moving away from plastic packaging.

Being real cellulose, it hand-tears like paper and breaks down after use, unlike BOPP plastic film. It is food grade under EU regulations, suited to confectionery, chocolate, dried foods, biscuits, bakery, and dairy in temperate or chilled conditions, which supports both food handling needs and a sustainability policy at the same time.

The bags are open at one end, so a genuine cellophane bag has no adhesive sealing strip. To close them, use biodegradable sticky tape, twist ties, or similar. Buying in volume? The same size is available as a box of 1000 for better value. For other sizes and gusseted options, browse the full cellophane bags and sheets range, and pair with twine, raffia and swing tags for presentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these bags real cellophane or plastic?

They are genuine cellophane made from cellulose, not plastic. Unlike BOPP bags often mislabelled as “cello”, real cellulose cellophane is biodegradable and will break down after use.

What size are they and what fits?

They measure 100mm x 180mm, a flat bag suited to confectionery, bakery items, samples, and small products. There is a small width tolerance of up to 2mm from the bag-making process.

Are they safe for food?

Yes. They are food grade under EU regulations, suited to confectionery, dried foods, biscuits, bakery, and dairy in temperate or chilled conditions. They are not recommended for moist or alcoholic foods.

How do you seal an open-ended cellophane bag?

Use biodegradable sticky tape, twist ties, or similar. A genuine cellophane bag has no adhesive strip, so an adhesive seal usually means the bag is plastic rather than cellophane.

Can we buy in bulk and save?

Yes. This size also comes in a box of 1000 for better value, and Buyecogreen supplies retailers, cafes, and schools Australia wide. Call 1300 663 488 to arrange bulk supply.
