Recycled and Biodegradable Rulers
So much plastic ends up in landfills after a short use. But most of this plastic can be given a longer life if collected, sorted and recycled. The recycled rulers in this range are made from recycled plastic, saving resources and extending the life of existing plastic polymer.
Alternatively, rulers made from biodegradable cornstarch instead of plastic are also available. The advantage of the cornstarch ruler is that it can be composted at the end of its life. It's your choice.
Eco Sharpeners
Here are two alternatives to plastic pencil sharpeners: sharpeners made from either sustainable timber or from biodegradable cornstarch.
The sustainable timber pencil sharpener is made of wood with a natural finish and has two sharpening holes: one for standard-size pencils and one for thick pencils. It is perfect for our range of thick colour pencils, rainbow pencils, and highlighter pencils.
The biodegradable pencil sharpener has a lid made from biodegradable cornstarch and a cornstarch bottom for collecting pencil shavings and keeping your work area clean. It is for standard-size pencils.
PVC-Free Eraser
These erasers are PVC-free and therefore more eco-friendly. Why is being PVC-free important? PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) poses significant environmental and health hazards from manufacture to disposal. That new plastic smell that you are familiar with - that's the phthalates - a dangerous class of chemicals known to cause a host of reproductive and developmental defects. They volatilize from the PVC and can migrate and leach into our air, water, and bodies.
